Grazia Felina, Issue #003
November 24, 2008

Dear ,
Welcome to the third edition of the Grazia Felina. If somebody forwarded it to you there's a subscription form at the bottom.

Dear friends,

Christmas is approaching fast yet again with all the lovely seasonal delights in store. Here in UK we traditionally ask ourselves - Will our cats have a chance to make their paw prints on the snow this winter? We’ll see. I have heard that the winter is expected to be fairly cold but these rumours are never reliable :-)

Walking through the old part of London this summer I came across the little hidden courtyard with a small bronze sculpture of a cat. With a sudden surprise I realised that I was standing in front of the house of Dr. Samuel Johnson, the man responsible for the English language as we know it today. Another fairly well known fact about Dr. Johnson is that he was a great admirer of cats and owned a few in his life. The bronze sculpture in the yard is of Hodge, his favourite. It is known that for this black beauty Dr. Johnson was buying oysters himself. Oysters as a cat’s dinner sounds very posh today but in those days (end of 18th century) they didn’t have quite the same value as they have today. It was considered a food of the poor. Still I don’t think that Hodge minded much:-)

You'll find a bit more cat history in our Car Art Garden.

We had quite a few new cat poetries sent to us recently. The latest submission is from a poet and a songwrite Bob Rogers which is a real jewel because not only we have a text of the touching poem about Bobs late cat Suki but there’s also an audio file next to it, featuring Bob singing this lovely song himself. Exquisite!
Cat Musing Poems

A little while ago I finally managed add the Cat Art Chequers game to the Cat Art Garden. I have created the images for the game pieces myself. I hope you will have a bit of fun playing it.

Coming up…
For those who are enjoying my paper doll cat and her costumes I will very soon introduce a new clothes collection which will be available for a very small fee. I’ll let all of you know when it’s up.

Since it’s not far until Christmas and I am not sure if I will be mailing you again before the great feast, I found a lovely cat quote from our beloved Charles Dickens, without whom Christmases would not be quite right::

"“What greater gift than the love of a cat?”"

Kind regards,
Your Anna,
Founder of the Cat Art Club.
