Cat portraits - create the lasting memory of your special companion

	Here is the page about my own cat art. I grew up in Moscow in the family or artists. Most of my relatives were artists. There are 16 of them spanning 4 generations so it is in fact a real dynasty.When I was little I thought that everyone naturally grows up to become an artist and whenever we would pass my parent's old art university, Stroganov, I new that it's the place I will go after I finish school. And so it happened in 1991. In 1997 I have graduated with the diploma in Fine Arts and had been painting full time ever since. We've had a number of cats when I was a child so cats always were a natural subject to me. I also new some remarkable cats of my friends and relatives. One of them in particular was instrumental in me becoming the cat artist.
Amber, fiercely independent companion of my English friend Anne Clegg, was a striking cat of some Persian origin - thick long fur, black face, green eyes and orange collar and pattern on the sides. I have painted a portrait of her for Anne and that turned to be the first of many eventually leading me to becoming a S.O.F.A. member.

I most enjoy painting cat portraits in oil and watercolor. Sometimes I am tempted by colour pencils as well like in the portrait of the gorgeous Sphynx Elmo above.
